6-Week Nursing Assistant Career Training in the Bay Area

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and/or a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), a Nursing Assistant’s duties include:

  • Taking patients’ temperature
  • Blood pressure
  • Pulse and respiration rate
  • Keeping patient records in terms of food/fluid intake and output
  • Assisting patients with grooming and personal hygiene
  • Obtaining food trays and assisting residents with feeding
  • Working with residents on range-of-motion exercises and movements

Becoming a Confident Nursing Assistant

The Nursing Assistant Course at Bay Area Medical Academy is a 6-week long training program designed to prepare individuals to provide services to long-term care facilities, hospital acute care teams, home health care, and other medical facilities. The course offers:

  • 2 weeks hands-on, classroom training and 4 weeks offsite clinical externship
  • Optional 8-hour readiness module that incorporates work-directed services to help participants transition to sustained economic independence
  • Preparation for certification with the California Department of Public Health (CDPH)

This course is approved by the California Department of Public Health.

How to Enroll in the Nursing Assistant Course

Bay Area Medical Academy accepts candidates into the Nursing Assistant Course based on an admissions procedure which includes an initial interview with one of our Admissions Representatives and a final interview with an instructor.

Students must attend a mandatory orientation for Nursing Assistant Course admission.

Program Details

Estimated total charges for the entire course: $2,193.00-$2,208.00

Included in tuition:

  • Lectures and Labs
  • Scrubs, textbooks, and class materials
  • Offsite clinical training
  • Life membership to Career Services support (if in good standing)

A payment plan for the program is available and can be discussed with admissions staff.

Depending on your situation, public funding for the program may be available through The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), Department of Rehabilitation, and the Veteran GI Bill®.

FAFSA is not available for this course.

The requirements for admission into the program are:

  • 18 years or older
  • Graduation from high school or higher level academy
  • Payment of minimum deposit
  • A passing English test score of 70% or higher
  • Attending orientation
  • 1 sealed official transcript

Many BAMA students come to the school with foreign diplomas or college degrees. You can enroll at BAMA if your foreign high school diploma is evaluated for equivalency in the US.
